DSLA Organises Declamation Contest At Heritage School

District Legal Services Authority, Jammu conducted a Declamation Contest on the topic “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life” at Heritage school on 16th Nov.2017 for classes VII to XII to generate awareness amongst the young populace regarding the menace of Drug Abuse, which is fast taking an epidemic form in J&K.
The young speakers presented their views very succinctly on the burning social issue and urged their friends to stay away from this menace .They also spoke at length on the grim effects of this harmful habit which is a cause of both physical and psychological ailments.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mr. V.C.Kaul, Chairman, DLSA, Principal District Sessions Judge and the guest speaker was Ms. Swati Gupta, Sub- Registrar, Jammu. In her address to the students Ms. Swati Gupta further elaborated on the serious effects of this wasteful habit. She also informed the students about the functions of the Legal Services Authority which provides free legal services to the under-privileged and the marginalised. She also acquainted the students with rights and duties of a citizen in context of drug abuse.
The winners of the Declamation Contest were felicitated by the worthy Chief Guest Mr. V.C. Kaul. The 1st , 2nd& 3rd positions were bagged by Aastha Sharma, Vasundhra Sharma and Jasneeh Kaur respectively.
The Principal Mr. J.S.Dhami presented the honourable Chief Guest and other distinguished guest with school mementos as a token of appreciation and gratitude.
