Heritage School wore a festive look as its Primary Wing celebrated its 13th Annual Sports meet on 22nd Dec. 2017 with boundless energy and enthusiasm.
The theme for the day was ‘L’ EAU EST LA VIE’ meaning ‘water is life’. Mr. Shourjo Chatterjee, Accountant General Jammu and Kashmir, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Mr. Rajeshwar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, JKP, CID HQs, Jammu, was the Guest of Honour for the day. Amongst other esteemed guests present was Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed MLA, Gulabgarh.
The august gathering was welcomed by the Junior School Prefect, Ifra Sambyal, who presented the welcome address. The sports events commenced with a well synchronised March Past by the four Houses Legacy, Tradition, Culture and Dignity. It was followed by the Oath administered by Atharav Dabgotra the Junior School Prefect and the declaration of the Sports Meet open by the esteemed Chief Guest.
The entire sports activities were woven around the theme of ‘Water is life’ The event was a conscious effort to spread awareness and affirm the resolve by young Heritageans to restore the purity of water by removing pollutants from it.
Students of the primary school put up a remarkable show with colourful dance drama and various thrilling races amidst cheers of students and parents. The innovative races like sponge race, balance of nature, water bottle relay and filling the bucket etc. performed on the sports arena, had the common message of importance of water in our lives and our shared responsibility of keeping this elixir of life free from pollutants. The well coordinated drill by students of classes I and II began with the Water Goddess flowing down as a gift of Nature and portrayal of dependence of all forms of life on it for their sustenance. It was followed by a soulful dance performance of students of class III which highlighted the fact that how humans pollute the water resources by throwing into it all kinds of pollutants which were shown as children dressed in black with long black nails dancing in glee. The young enthusiasts of classes IV and V show-cased the Heritageans taking up the cause of saving water resources and removing the pollutants

through a clever use of colours in the costumes. The grand finale which was the culmination of the sports event was not only a visual delight but also a reiteration of the solemn oath taken by the Heritageans to save our water resources. The magnificent dance drama was punctuated by the thrilling races performed by children from classes I to V.
The splendid show was followed by felicitation of winners in the much awaited Prize Distribution Ceremony. The winners of races from classes I to III were decorated with medals by the Guest of Honour. The esteemed Chief Guest, accompanied by the Principal Mr. Jagadish Singh Dhami, honoured the winners of races from classes IV and V and also gave away the prizes for excellence in Co-Curricular activities .The Best March Past Contingent Trophy was clinched by Culture House. Mrs. Sunita Gupta, Chairperson of the school, presented the mementos to the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour.
In his address to the gathering the revered Chief Guest complimented the students and staff for putting up such a stupendous show and extolled the Heritageans for their energy and spirit. While presenting the Vote of Thanks the Headmistress Mrs. Vandana Jasrotia , extended her gratitude to the distinguished guests and parents for gracing the occasion and adding a sparkle to the day. The eventful day came to a close with the rendition of the National Anthem.
