HERITAGE SCHOOL SENIOR WING CELEBRATES XIII ANNUAL SPORTS DAY – ‘FINE FETTLE’

Heritage School senior wing celebrated its XIII Annual Sports Day on 24th Dec. 2017 with joy and exuberance. Christmas spirit of bonhomie and goodwill warming the chilly December morning, school wore a festive look adorned with colourful flags and balloons and children smartly dressed all ready to display their talent on the field.
Mrs. Priya Sethi, Hon’ble Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture Tourism, Department of Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks , graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Major General Nilendra Kumar, ADG, NCC, Directorate Jammu, J&K was the Guest of Honour. Amongst other luminaries present were Mr. Shourjo Chatterjee, Accountant General J&K, Mr. Shaleen Kabra (IAS), Chief Electoral Officer,Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Khan(MLA) ,Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed Khan (MLA) and Dr. D.K. Manyal (MLA) .

The day’s programme commenced with the welcome speech by the school head boy Master Kartik Tripathi , followed by a well synchronised march past by the four Houses of the school & Scouts and Guides contingent. The pique of the march past was the contingents comprising of National Level players of the school and the army band of 19 Grenadiers’ Infantry Division of the Indian Army. After the flag hoisting by the honourable Chief Guest the meet was declared open and a torch was lit to commemorate the events.
The Sports Oath was administered by the School Sports Captain Master Shubam Soni. It was entailed by an array of thrilling races in which girls & boys from classes VI – XI participated with great gusto and spirit. The highlight of the races was the relay race which had students teachers cheering for their own respective houses and which was eventually won by Boys of Dignity House and Girls of Tradition House .
Embellishing the track and field events were the splendid field displays which presented a riot of hues and vibrancy .The energetic drills and fitness regimes which were displayed by the students were an eclectic fusion of classical Indian dance movements with Zumba and hip hop in which students used ribbons, lazium and pomp- pomps as props.
The magnificent sports event was followed by the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony where in certificates and commendations were awarded to students who achieved excellence and had dared to succeed. In the first category of awards 35 students who had achieved C.G.P.A 10 in C.B.S.E Class X Board Exams were given a cash prize of Rs. 10,000





each by Mrs. Nirmal Gupta senior most member of the Heritage family. 8 students from class IX who had secured A1 in at least four main subjects for three consecutive years were decorated with ‘Golden Crest’ by the Guest of Honour. He also felicitated the winners of various races and gave away the Best March Past Trophy to students of Culture House.
The revered Chief Guest Mrs. Priya Sethi presented School Blazers to 11 students of class X for setting high standards of academic excellence .Master Prithpal Singh and Miss Riya Bhatti alumni of the school were awarded with Silver Medallion for having secured highest marks in CBSE Class 12 Board Exams .The Best House Trophy for Sports was awarded to Dignity House for the session 2017-18.The distinguished guests were presented with school mementoes by the Chairperson Mrs. Sunita Gupta. In her key note address the Chief Guest applauded the students for their remarkable performance and appreciated the staff for their efforts in putting up such a grand show. She advised students to excel in academics on par with games and sports.
The Principal Mr. Jagdish Singh Dhami in his the vote of thanks expressed his gratitude to illustrious guests, media personnel and worthy parents for gracing the occasion and adding a zing to the day. He also extended his compliments to the staff and the students for their hard work which culminated into a spectacular show as it was witnessed by all. The curtain call for the day arrived with rendition of the National Anthem.
