HERITAGE SCHOOL HOLDS SEMINAR ON DRUG ABUSE

A seminar on Drug Abuse was organised in Heritage School on 24th Aug. 2018. The event was attended by students of classes 10th to 12th as well as the faculty. The programme was organised by the Humanities Dept. of the school with the aim to create awareness on drug abuse and its ill effects. Mr. R.C. Kotwal, Sr. Supt. of Police, Nodal Officer Anti Drugs, Jammu, who leads the drugs control initiative in Jammu city was the Guest Speaker. Mr. Vipin Chandra, SDPO East and Ms. Shashi Thakur, SDPO Railway also graced the occasion.
He enlightened the audience with the adverse effects of drug addiction to one’s health and how it takes a toll on the person physically and mentally. He cautioned the children against drug peddlers and how they trap the gullible youth in their nexus. He emphasised on establishing a strong social interactive system with family and friends to get rid of this evil from society. He also highlighted the fact that sale, purchase and consumption of drugs is an illegal act and can lead to imprisonment. He advised the students to channelize their energies in constructive activities and choose pathways leading to successful and healthy life.
The Principal, Heritage School presented the honourable Chief Guest with the school mementos and expressed his gratitude to Mr. Kotwal and his department for their efforts in creating awareness as awareness beats curiosity and education is the best prevention.
