The First School In Jammu To Organise A Visit to ISRO

Heritage School, in its pursuit to foster scientific curiosity and ignite young minds, organized a remarkable visit to ISRO Ahmedabad Space Applications Centre (SAC). This enriching experience proved to be far more than just a field trip; it was a gateway to the wonders of space exploration and a source of profound inspiration for the participating students.
A group of 33 students and 3 teachers from Heritage School visited ISRO. This unique privilege allowed them to witness firsthand the cutting-edge research and development undertaken at SAC, leaving them awestruck and yearning to delve deeper into the world of aerospace.
The students had the opportunity to meet with Senior Scientists, including Sri. Nilesh M Desai (Director, ISRO), Sri. Naresh bhai Bhatt (Head, VSSE), Sri. Anurag S Verma (Head, HSTD), Dr. Rajak (Group Director, RTM), and Sri. Jai Gopal Singla (Sci/Eng-SF). These interactions provided invaluable insights into the work being done at ISRO, from the Gaganyaan mission to payload development and remote sensing. The scientists even explained the difference between Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles and Geosynchronous Launch Vehicles, sparking a thirst for further knowledge in the young minds.
The warmth and dedication of the SAC staff left an indelible mark on the students. Their willingness to answer every question with patience created a welcoming and stimulating environment, where curiosity could flourish. The officials went beyond merely showcasing their work; they also generously shared valuable insights into the various pathways to joining ISRO, instilling a sense of ambition in the young minds.
What began as a planned two-hour visit, organically extended into a four-hour immersive experience. The most heart warming moment arrived at the conclusion of the tour when touched by the dedication and passion witnessed at SAC, several students instinctively bowed down to the officials, expressing their gratitude in a traditional gesture of respect. This spontaneous act spoke volumes about the depth of inspiration they had gleaned from the experience.
What made the trip even more amazing was the visit to Kevadia to see the Statue of Unity- world's tallest statue, which lit up in all its glory when the laser and sound show depicted the life story of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel and the reason why he is called ‘The Iron Man of India’
The other attractions of this awesome tour were the Akshardham Temple, Kankariya Lake, Sabarmati Ashram & Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad and India Gate, Kartavya Path, Old and New Parliament Houses ( Central Vista ) in New Delhi.
The visit to ISRO Ahmedabad SAC served as a catalyst for igniting scientific curiosity and propelling students towards future careers in aerospace. Heritage School, through such initiatives, reaffirms its commitment to nurturing young minds and creating the next generation of scientists and explorers.
